Angola defends cooperation within non aligned countries

In her speech at the preparatory ministerial meeting for the 19th NAM Summit, the Chancellor emphasized that the global scenario brings with it increasingly complex and multi-dimensional challenges that cross borders and affect states in a wide variety of areas: political, economic, social and multilateral.

In this sense, the relevance of the chosen theme was highlighted by the bloc's event dedicated to the theme “Deepening cooperation for shared global prosperity”.

He added that this is a reminder to further strengthen relationships within the movement and define proactive strategies to achieve the common goal, said a statement from the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

António thanked Uganda, which will assume the NAM presidency, for hosting his country's delegation at the event and congratulated Azerbaijan for its “brilliant presidency under difficult circumstances” such as the Covid-19 pandemic.

The ministerial meeting was opened by Ugandan Vice President Jessica Rose Epel Alupo at the Munyonyo Conference Center and according to the agenda, she will prepare all documentation for the NAM summit scheduled to be held in Kampala on January 19th and 20th

This Wednesday, participants heard the report of the technical meeting of January 15 and 16 and were informed of a special session on the situation in Palestine.

Around 120 delegations from member states as well as countries and international organizations with observer status take part in the event.
