Women's rights activist Vanessa Mendoza Cortés was acquitted by the Andorra criminal court on Wednesday. The judges thus reject the accusations made by the Public Ministry and the Government, according to which the president of the organization Stop Violències (Stop Violence) was guilty of “a crime against the reputation of the institutions”. On behalf of Stop Violències, the social psychologist participated in a United Nations conference on the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women (Cedaw) in October 2019, which regularly monitors the extent to which each country implements anti-discrimination policies. Mendoza presented a report calling for better protection for women and girls.
