Alouettes: A protector of Cody Fajardo extends his stay

After winning his third Gray Cup in five seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL), Canadian offensive lineman Justin Lawrence has decided to continue his association with the Montreal Alouettes.

Lawrence was part of the lineup for all 18 Sparrows' regular season games in 2023. He also protected quarterback Cody Fajardo in the playoffs and helped him throw three touchdown passes in the finale.

“Justin played an important role in protecting our quarterbacks. “In his first year with us in 2023, he has integrated well into our offensive line,” general manager Danny Maciocia said in a press release. He understands our rules of the game very well and our ball carriers also had success thanks to his blocking. We are happy that he is coming back with us.”

The University of Alberta Golden Bears product won the Gray Cup for the second straight year, following the Toronto Argonauts' triumph in 2022. Lawrence was also crowned champion in his first year in the CFL, in 2018, with the Calgary Stampeders .
