Verbal aggression towards the RACJ representative: The Yvon Michel Group's permits were suspended for two months

The Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (RACJ) of Quebec has decided to suspend the permits of the Yvon Michel Group (GYM) for two months until March 12 and the organizer will not be able to attend the boxing galas from Quebec to take part in his business until September.

This is the conclusion announced after a hearing on Tuesday morning in connection with the events during the boxing gala on October 7 at the Place Bell.

GYM cannot therefore organize a gala before March 12th. From this date the organizer has the leisure to do so, but Yvon Michel will not be able to take part in these boxing evenings. The sanction is valid for six months, until September 12th.

Eventful gala

On the evening of October 7, Kim Clavel lost by split decision to Argentina's Evelin Bermudez, the two-time light flyweight world champion.

At the end of the gala, Michel and GYM vice-president Alexandra Croft allegedly verbally attacked the RACJ representative.

Additionally, Croft will also be kept away from galas for the next six months, but unlike Michel, she will be allowed in at the weigh-in.

Michel had problems with Benoît Roussel, one of the judges in charge of the Kim Clavel fight.

GYM had even requested that the latter not be used in the fight, but the request was rejected.

Yvon Michel has not currently responded to our interview request. On October 24, he stated on his Twitter account (now X) that he wanted to respect the exercise.

“As announced, the RACJ would like to meet me for the events on October 7th. I have already sent letters of apology to the RACJ and those affected, expressing my sincere regret. I intend to cooperate fully and assume my responsibilities,” he said.

On the RACJ side, attorney and spokesperson Joyce Tremblay said there would be no comment.
