Alec Baldwin charged with manslaughter on 'Rust' set Splash

Alec Baldwin, 65, has been charged again with manslaughter in connection with the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film “Rust.”

What happened

  • The actor was charged in the accidental death of Rust's cameraman. According to information from the Guardian, the decision was made this Friday (19) by the grand jury in Santa Fé, New Mexico.
  • Today's charges came after an independent forensic analysis concluded that Baldwin had to pull the trigger on a revolver he used in a test to fire the shot that killed Hutchins.
  • In April, prosecutors even dismissed an initial charge of involuntary manslaughter against BaldwinThey claimed they were told that the murder weapon may have been altered before it was fired and may be defective. However, they said whether they should refile charges against the actor after receiving new analysis of the weapon.
  • The murder occurred in October 2021. Baldwin, who plays the film's protagonist, was aiming what appeared to be a cinematic weapon when a shot was fired. Halyna died and director Joel Souza was injured. The actor says he pulled the “bottom” of the gun, but not the trigger.
