An American teacher has been charged with attempted murder after she allegedly tried to poison her husband's smoothie with a poisonous plant.
This is reported by Sky News. Sarah Scheffer allegedly tried to poison her husband's smoothie with lily of the valley, a poisonous plant. The teacher was allegedly filmed in the act.
Sarah Scheffer's husband is said to have installed surveillance cameras in his property despite suspecting for several weeks that his wife had contaminated his food and drinks.
When questioned by police, the 37-year-old admitted putting the lily of the valley root in a blender “with the intent to harm the victim,” according to information obtained by Sky News. She knew that ingesting lily of the valley could be fatal.
On eight occasions the husband allegedly drank smoothies prepared by his wife, all of which had a very strange taste. He then reportedly suffered from extreme fatigue, confusion, blurred vision and nausea.
The victim allegedly noticed a bag of lily of the valley on the kitchen table.
Sarah Scheffer's partner would not have drunk the poisonous drink that was in the refrigerator.
The product was confiscated by the police and sent to the laboratory.
Sarah Scheffer is currently in custody at the Cole County Center in Missouri awaiting trial.
