$1 Million Mega Millions Ticket Purchased in New Jersey as Jackpot Rises – NJ.com

A $1 million Mega Millions ticket was purchased in New Jersey for Friday's lottery drawing as the jackpot continues to rise, officials said.

New Jersey Lottery officials did not disclose Saturday where the lucky ticket was sold. It matched five numbers, but not the Mega Ball, and was one of four second prize tickets nationwide. Winners were also chosen in Illinois, Michigan and South Carolina.

Friday's numbers were: 1, 9, 16, 17 and 30. The Mega Ball was 17 with a Megaplier of 2X.

No one across the country hit Friday's $236 million jackpot, which had a cash option of $111.3 million. If no one wins the jackpot, the money is added to the next drawing.

The odds of matching all the winning numbers on a $2 ticket are 302,575,350 to 1. Players have a 1 in 12,607,306 chance of getting a ticket with five numbers but not the Mega Ball, at least Wins $1 million.

Mega Millions drawings take place on Tuesday and Friday in 45 states as well as Washington, DC and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Saturday's Powerball jackpot is worth an estimated $120 million, with a cash option of $59.4 million.
