Dina Boluarte experienced a very difficult journey on Saturday. The Peruvian president was attacked by two women during an official event in the Andean city of Ayacucho, where 10 people died in protests against her government in December 2022.

The attack occurred as Dina Boluarte was helping to lay the foundation stone of a road in the Chiara district of Ayacucho, about 570 kilometers southeast of the capital Lima.

“You killed my husband”

The head of state was meeting with Ayacucho regional governor Wilfredo Oscorima when two women went straight to the stage, one of them grabbing the president by the hair, according to television images. “You killed my husband, will I keep quiet? », launched one of the attackers, who was arrested by the authorities.
