Israel Hamas war: Stéphane Séjourné affirms that Palestinians “have the right to a state”

As the war between Israel and Hamas continues, Paris continues to advocate for a two-state solution. The Palestinians “have the right to sovereignty and to a state,” said French diplomatic chief Stéphane Séjourné on Saturday.

“France will remain faithful to its commitment to achieving this goal,” wrote Stéphane Séjourné in Gaza, believing that Israel must maintain “control over the security of the Palestinian territory.”

Netanyahu adamant

Israel must “ensure that Gaza no longer poses a threat” and this demand “contradicts the demand for Palestinian sovereignty,” Benjamin Netanyahu said in a telephone interview with US President Joe Biden on Friday, according to the prime minister's office.

The United States and Europe are advocating a two-state solution that is rejected by the Israeli government, which is waging a war against the Palestinian Hamas in Gaza after the terror movement's bloody attack in Israel on October 7.

This unprecedented attack killed 1,140 people, most of them civilians. According to the Hamas Health Ministry, the Israeli response in Gaza has left nearly 25,000 dead, the vast majority of them women, children and teenagers.
