The polar cold that raged over the weekend will ease, while relatively warm weather will settle in most parts of Quebec early in the week.
The mercury should therefore rise to reach comfortable temperatures for this time of year, but wind chills could still be biting in certain areas, according to Environment Canada forecasts.
This mild period will be accompanied by some snow showers in the Laurentians and western Quebec, but without major accumulations.
In Montreal it will be minus 2 degrees under cloudy skies after morning clearings, but the wind effect will be present due to the strong winds sweeping across the Quebec metropolis.
In the center of the province the weather will be generally cloudy with a 60% chance of snow showers and strong winds with temperatures of minus 4 degrees.
However, the sun will be more prominent in certain areas of eastern Quebec, where temperatures will rise, while intermittent snowfall is expected in some places.
On the other hand, extreme cold will continue in areas of northern Quebec, where temperatures of minus 30 degrees are accompanied by strong winds.
On Tuesday, the mercury will continue to rise, reaching temperatures of minus 1 degree in Montreal, with the weather alternating between sun and clouds.
