In Liechtenstein, a baby deer was hunted and killed by two wolves on Saturday.
On January 20, a dead calf in Großsteg (municipality of Triesenberg) was reported to the Liechtenstein Hunting Lodge by the ranger of the affected area. According to current knowledge, he was hunted by two wolves. Genetic samples were collected to individually identify the two wolves. These samples will be analyzed in the laboratory in the coming weeks.
Wolves avoid contact with humans and avoid them if possible. However, it occasionally happens that wolves cross settlement areas or pursue prey whose wintering habitat is close to settlements. The game warden wants to observe the area specifically so he can rule out the possibility of wolves with behavioral problems.
