A woman in her 60s was ejected from her car and remained in hospital in a critical condition after she was involved in a very violent head-on collision in Saint-Lin-Laurentides in the Lanaudière region on Monday afternoon.
The tragedy occurred just before 2 p.m. on Route 335, not far from the Rang Double intersection, in an area where the speed limit is 70 km/h.
“For an unknown reason, the driver of the car left the lane and collided with an oncoming truck,” said Sergeant Marythé Bolduc, spokeswoman for the Sûreté du Québec.
The force of the impact threw the driver, aged around sixty, from her car.

She was quickly transported to the hospital in critical condition. Doctors fear for his life.
The truck driver was not injured.
A section of Route 335 was completely closed to traffic in both directions to allow the Sûreté du Québec collision investigation specialist to understand the circumstances of the accident.
Authorities said road conditions were “difficult” at the time of the collision, particularly due to blowing snow.
It was the second serious accident of the day in the Lanaudière region. Earlier in the morning, around 7 a.m., a driver in his 50s was killed in a personal accident on Route 337 in Saint-Norbert Parish.
According to authorities, the theory of the driver's voluntary action is being studied in detail.
