Songs full of Brazilians are the focus of Renascer's soundtrack, but the remake resulted in a significant change in the plot's opening. The soap opera no longer begins with the sounds of Confins, as in the 1993 version. Now the classic Lua Soberana is reinterpreted with the voices of Bahian singers Luedji Luna and Xênia França, to retell the saga of José Inocêncio (Humberto Carrão/Marcos Palmeira ) to initiate).
The song chosen for the opening was composed by Ivan Lins and Vitor Martins and was included in the original soundtrack. “It is a great honor to perform this song. It is a song that is part of the Salvadoran imagination and because we are singers from Bahia, it becomes something very symbolic,” says Xênia, winner of the Latin Grammy for Best Contemporary Pop Album in Portuguese in 2023.
“I am very happy to sing the opening track of this soap opera, which is a classic on Brazilian television. Even happier to sing it with a great artist from my home country: Xênia França! It will be historic!” Luedji cheers in a statement published by Globo to the press.
Rafael Luperi, who signs the musical production together with Victor Pozas and Rafael Langoni, explained that Lua Soberana shaped the first version and explained the reason for the change in the opening.
“It was the back and forth song for the commercial and was also played in the cocoa scenes. During the development of the remake, we realized that people immediately associated Lua Soberana's singing with the soap opera Renascer,” the producer told Gshow.
From the original version of the song, we retained the original composition by Ivan Lins and Vitor Martins and the vocals from Sérgio Mendes' version, but created a new basis rhythmically and harmonically. Although “Lua Soberana” is a timeless work that has shaped the imagination of Brazilian audiences, we believe this new version of the soap opera felt like a new, more modern look.
Victor Pozas also accompanied the recording of the orchestra's new arrangement in the town of Taillin, Estonia.
Songs Reborn
The team selected several Bahian composers and artists for the original songs and new recordings of the soap opera set in Ilhéus. There is also a mix of rhythms and styles that Brazil represents.
The new song Quero Você is sung by Maria Bethânia in collaboration with Almério. Caetano Veloso sings Trem das Cores while Gilberto Gil Toda Menina Baiana sings.
Iza is responsible for the romantic Uma Vida É Pequeno Pra Te Amar, main theme by José Inocêncio and Maria Santa (Duda Santos). The partnership between Ney Matogrosso and Criolo appears in the plot with the song Algoritmo Íntimo.
Also featured on the soundtrack are artists such as Fagner, Chico César, Elba Ramalho, Geraldo Azevedo, Shanghai, Quinteto Paraíba and Milton Nascimento.
The new generation of MPB is also represented by Agnes Nunes, Neo Beats, Juliana Linhares, Maria Maud (daughter of Claudia Abreu), Gilsons, Rachel Reis, Mulu, Alice Caymmi, Monica Salmaso and Dori Caymmi.
Renascer was written by Bruno Luperi and is an adaptation of the 1993 work by Benedito Ruy Barbosa. As with Pantanal (2022), the author intends to follow his grandfather's original plot and make few changes to the story.
