Oscar nominations 2024: Barbie, Oppenheimer and Killers of the Flower Moon dominate the Oscar list, with Cillian Murphy and Bradley Cooper set to compete for best actress… while Margot Robbie is snubbed for best actress

“Barbenheimer” and “Killers of the Flower Moon” dominated the nominations for the 96th Academy Awards, which were announced Tuesday morning at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California.

Christopher Nolan's “Oppenheimer” received its first 13 Oscar nominations and won Best Picture honors; Nolan's direction; acting nominations for Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr. and Emily Blunt; and several awards for the art of drama.

Barbie received eight nominations, including awards for Best Picture; Ryan Gosling for Best Supporting Actor; and two candidates for best song. However, Greta Gerwig was not considered in the “Best Director” category.

Bradley Cooper and Cillian Murphy will be vying for the Best Actor award. Colman Domingo, Paul Giamatti and Jeffrey Wright also received nominations.

Leonardo DiCaprio received no credit for his role in Killers Of The Flower Moon.

Gerwig was nominated for best director in 2018 for her solo directorial debut Lady Bird. Only three women have won the Oscar for best director – Kathryn Bigelow, Chloe Zhao and Jane Campion.

Although Nolan is considered the award-winning author of his time, he never won an Oscar and none of his films won Best Picture.

Bradley Cooper wasn't nominated for directing Maestro, but won for his acting in the biofilm.

The 96th Academy Awards will take place March 10 at 7 p.m. live on ABC, hosted for the fourth time by Jimmy Kimmel.

The nominations for the 2024 Golden Raspberry Awards were announced on Monday. These are awards for actors and films that are considered the “worst” of the year.
