Great adventure for the new owners of the Pourvoirie du Lac Laflamme

Located in the heart of Monts-Valin, Pourvoirie du Lac Laflamme now has a new ownership team. They intend to continue the tradition of offering quality hunting, fishing and resort vacations.

“Owning an outfitter is a project that has been close to my heart for a long time,” explains the spokesman for the ownership group, Mathieu Lord. I trained as a Hunting and Fisheries Management Technician (TACH) in Baie-Comeau to prepare for this dream that I wanted to achieve. Now it's done. I chose this outfitter who was for sale and met all my expectations. Now we will work to consolidate and improve operations to meet the expectations of today's fans. »

He bought the outfitter together with his wife Geneviève Méthot, his children Amylou, Nokyan and Kamylee as well as Josianne Méthot and Yannick Bouchard. They intend to go one step further by developing the sector.

“We’re not going to change a lot of things. We intend to improve the offer both in terms of chalets and fishing. We are fortunate to have a very large area of 91 kilometers2 that has a lot to offer. This means we can continue to go fishing, but also for water sports activities and vacations. »

Improvements will also be felt in the reception infrastructure.

“In addition to the existing VIP chalet, we have built a brand new chalet, L'Aurore boréale, which can accommodate 12 people.” In addition, we will be renewing the chalets on both the American plan site and the European plan site. Ultimately, we decided on an energy transition as part of our environmentally conscious vision. »

SERVICES

There are two plans available at the outfitter, located on either side of Lake Laflamme, the heart of the outfitter.

“We have more than 40 places on the American planning site. With these packages, meals are eaten in the auberge. Boats, engines and gasoline as well as gutting and freezing the catch, all of these services are included. There are four chalets on the European plan site that can accommodate up to 35 people. We will work to improve them for the next fishing season. »

“At the outfitter we have 35 lakes where only native trout are fished. There are lakes with standard catches between 10 and 12 inches, while specimens weighing up to four pounds can be caught in other lakes. The largest catches were made at Lake Laflamme. To reach the lakes, in most cases it is possible to do so by car. Some are only accessible by mountain bike, which enthusiasts must bring with them. We can truly meet the needs of all anglers. »

The new ownership group really wants to make this outfitter a reference in Monts-Valin.

“In addition to continuing our efforts in the areas of fishing and quality housing, we also want to further develop the resort and nautical activities aspects. For example, we have paddle boards on site, which we supplement with other equipment so that visitors can make optimal use of the area and our facilities. »

LOCATION

Preparations for snowmobile sports are underway for an official opening next winter.

“We still need to clarify some details and also do some construction work to provide snowmobilers with the comfort and safety they expect when they trust an organization. Since we are based in Monts-Valin, we can also offer you excellent snow quality. We will also develop an ice fishing offer. During our prospecting efforts, we caught a 15-inch trout on Lake Laflamme. Let's say this bodes well. Snowmobilers have nothing to fear. We will be there to give them what they are looking for. »

The outfitter is located northeast of Saint-Fulgence, in the heart of Monts-Valin.

“To get to us, from Saint-Fulgence you have to take the Chemin de la Zec Martin-Valin until kilometer 40. There you have to turn right and follow the path until kilometer 63, where there is a junction with: on the left access to the American map side and on the right access to the European map. Both are located on the shores of Lake Laflamme, which stretches over 20 square kilometers,” explains the owner.
