The Resto Billard Night Life restaurant in Liverpool is affected by flames. The owner, Annie Faucher, announced this on Facebook. It is with great sadness that we announce that Liverpool will remain closed indefinitely. The major fire currently taking place on Well South has unfortunately spread to the building in which our facility is located and the damage will certainly be very extensive, we write.
Last year, Ms. Faucher completed major renovations to her restaurant. More than $600,000 was invested in this project. We know the buildings are all stuck together, that's always worrying. But as long as we didn't know what building it was, [je ne m’inquiétais pas]. I was two hours away and had no network [cellulaire]. At some point I started getting a lot of calls, texts and messages. “We turned around and came back,” she told Téléjournal Estrie.
According to Ms. Faucher, the fourth floor, which is currently unoccupied and would soon be used for projects, is currently ablaze. The firefighters were then able to gain a little more control. There will be a lot of smoke on the other floors and certainly there will be a lot of water.
According to Ms. Faucher, mechanical excavators arrived on site. They begin demolishing the building at 16 Wellington Street South from the rear.
She posted an update on her Facebook page shortly after 7 p.m.
I feel like I'm in no man's land. I'm too shocked to cry and I'm at a loss for words. I will continue to watch Sherbrooke firefighters work really hard.
