The death penalty is considered cruel and inhumane punishment by the United Nations and still exists in more than 50 countries in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and North America.

In the United States, it is common for these prisoners to receive a final meal of their choice.

In reality, the food is served a day or two before the execution and there are some restrictions. For example, alcohol and tobacco are often refused. The budget varies by state and there are also some rules about who can attend the final meal.

The last meals ordered by convicts in the country became the subject of TikToker Josh Slavin's videos. He recreates the dishes on social media and, after trying them, creates a ranking of what he thinks are the best dishes.

The young man wanted to find out who the convicts were, what crimes they had committed and where they were being held. He tells all these details in the videos.

Strange last meals

Without a doubt, the most unusual order in Josh's report was that of Victor Feguer, who placed a unique order: a single pitted olive.

Gerald Mitchell, who was executed in 2001 for the murder of two young men, also made an unexpected request. For his last meal, he just ordered a bag of assorted Jolly Ranchers candies.

Another curious case was that of Ronnie Gardner, who was sentenced to death after killing two men. His last meal was a feast of steak, lobster tail, apple pie, vanilla ice cream and lemonade.

In 1995, Timothy McVeigh parked a truck armed with 5,000 explosives outside a federal building in Oklahoma. Later that day, the bomb exploded, killing 168 people and injuring nearly 700. His order was simple: 2 liters of mint chocolate ice cream.

Execution survivors

There are only three people in the United States who have survived an execution attempt, and he is one of them. Alan Miller, who faced an execution attempt in September 2022, is the other survivor. There is a third famous case: Romell Broom, who survived after 18 fatal injection attempts on September 15, 2009 (he died of Covid in 2020).
