The popcorn trios will headline 170 attractions at Carnival in Salvador. The program was announced at a press conference on Tuesday evening (23) at Largo Tereza Batista in Pelourinho. One of the highlights is the Trio da Cultura, led by Gilberto Gil, Margareth Menezes and Chico César on the BarraOndina route on Saturday. Check out all the free attractions below.
Attractions include Ludmilla, Léo Santana, Parangolé, Xanddy Harmonia, Carlinhos Brown, Daniela Mercury, Baiana System and Àttooxxá. Parades are also planned in five other counties: Orlando Tapajós (Ondina Barra), Sérgio Bezerra (Barra Morro do Cristo), Riachão (Garcia), Mestre Bimba (northeast of Amaralina) and Mãe Hilda Jitolú (Curuzu). On Ash Wednesday, singer Bell Marques concludes the 2024 Carnival program.

Around 3 million tourists are expected in the capital during the celebrations. The opening of the Carnival do Interior will take place in the town of Lençóis, in the Chapada Diamantina. Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues was present at the event and announced measures by the Secretariats of State for the Carnival.
1 million condoms will be distributed at race tracks and mass transit points during Carnival. Testing stations for HIV, syphilis and viral hepatitis will also be set up in Salvador and Porto Seguro to ensure treatment in positive cases.
In addition to support and inspection teams, around 2,000 shifts will be made available in hospitals in the capital and the interior. The HGE Multiple Victim Assistance Center will be available and have the capacity to accommodate 35 victims at a time. The Women's Hospital also offers a care service for women exposed to sexual violence (AME), to accommodate women, adolescents and trans women aged 12 and over who are exposed to situations of abuse and sexual violence.
37,000 police officers and firefighters will take part in Salvador's carnival. In addition to human resources, 42 arrival portals (24hour access to the circuits), 672 structures including police and fire stations, in addition to elevated observation posts and 371 cameras at the circuits will be provided; 108 of them are facial recognition. The Integrated Command and Control Center (CICC) will also be installed during the carnival.
As part of the campaign to combat child labor and sexual exploitation of children and young people, information materials are distributed at heavily frequented points in the capital. In addition to multidisciplinary care, mineral water, sanitary towels and condoms are distributed, among other things, to people in socially vulnerable situations and to people who consume psychoactive substances.
A permanent post will be set up at the Circuito Dodô and another at Procon's headquarters in Carlos Gomes to handle reports of racial and religious violations. The teams will be on site from February 8th to 14th from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and consist of lawyers, psychologists and social workers. The service will also take place at Trio das Pretas in Change do Garcia.
Combating genderbased violence
To prevent genderbased violence during Carnival, the “Oxe, Me Respeite” tent will be set up in Salvador to welcome and inform women who are victims of violence during the celebrations. In addition to the tent, there is also the “Bloco Oxe, Me Respeite!” festival. will be present in the capital and 11 other cities in the interior.
DetranBA will carry out preliminary inspections of electrical trios and floats. The tour takes place from January 29th to February 9th in the exhibition park. The fire department will conduct inspections in addition to inspecting cabins, support vehicles, practice areas and other structures set up for the event.
There will also be a law refresher course for trio drivers. Drivers will be subjected to an alcohol test. Operation Lei Seca will be carried out in the access areas to the circuits during the festival week
250 professionals, including tour guides, information agents and carers, will travel the circuits and be available at the party. The teams will work on tourist attractions and city entrance gates. The Tourist Assistance Service (SAT) will be available at three fixed stations (Airport, Bus Station and Pelourinho) and four mobile stations (Campo Grande, Praça Municipal, Barra and Ondina).
As part of the Eco Folia Solidária program, R$ 2.5 million will be invested in supporting recycling material collectors. As part of the campaign, uniforms (pants, shirts, hats), PPE (boots, gloves, earmuffs) will be distributed to around 2,400 collectors and five cooperatives. Equipment and technical staff are also rented to carry out the project.
The main sources of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions will also be identified during the 2024 Salvador Carnival. In 2024, seedling production and planting activities as well as actions with solid waste cooperatives will be carried out to offset emissions
