Fifty Shades of Gray star Jamie Dornan was hospitalized in 2023 after suffering heart attack-like symptoms from exposure to poisonous caterpillars.

According to the Telegraph, Gordon Smart, a friend of the actor, told the podcast “The Good, the Bad and the Unexpected” that they traveled to Portugal a year ago, where he and Dornan experienced palpitations, tingling in their hands, and the entire time in the arm and numbness in the body, which is why they were urgently taken to the hospital.
“Jamie said, 'About 20 minutes after you left, my left arm went numb, my left leg went numb, my right leg went numb and I found myself in the back of an ambulance,'” he said.
All of these symptoms were caused by contact with pine processionary caterpillars that were on the golf course where they spent the afternoon. In recent months, these animals have killed plants and even pets.
“There are caterpillars on the golf courses in southern Portugal that kill dogs and give heart attacks to 40-year-old men. “We were very lucky to get out of this alive,” he explained.
