A 16-year-old teenager who tried to escape police in a stolen sport utility vehicle was arrested in Montreal on Tuesday night.
Police officers from the Candiac highway station attempted to intercept an SUV that appeared to be stolen in Brossard around 1:45 a.m., a spokesman for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) said.
The driver of the vehicle refused to stop, sparking a police chase westbound on Highway 20.
In his mad dash, the fleeing driver veered off the road after losing control of his vehicle at the exit towards Normand Street in the Lachine sector.

The teenager was arrested at the scene and taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was released with a promise to appear later, said Ève Brochu-Joubert, confirming that the SUV had been reported stolen that night.
He was facing charges of vehicle theft, theft, escape and possession of burglary tools, it said.
