“On December 28th we took a trip south to the island of Curaçao. This time the children weren't there, but we were there with 15 friends to celebrate the New Year. We were spending the last minutes of 2023 at a restaurant-bar party on the beach, surrounded by our friends, when midnight struck. “The fireworks started to the sound of Coldplay’s Viva la Vida and Bernard wanted us to make a Happy New Year video to send to the children,” she recalls.
She continues:
“In the first minutes of January 1, Bernard put his arm around me during a video that was intended to be a message to our children. I felt like he had something in his hand, so I turned around and saw the box. To be honest, at the time I thought it was a joke and that the box was empty. It's my friend's humor to do such a thing! My reaction was to look at him seriously and say, “Are you kidding me?” (laughter) So I looked in the box to make sure it was real and when I saw the ring I burst into tears. “

When asked whether she had expected this, the mother of four said no.
“Absolutely not! We had already discussed the topic, but nothing more, and it was often only in jest, so I didn't expect it at all. Besides, we had recently gone to Las Vegas for a few days and there were several people around us Around, including Bernard's ex-wife, thought that we would come back from there married! (laughs) It has to be said that we took a lot of photos in front of the famous local chapels and were always joking.
