Two identical twins from Georgia, believed to be among the many babies stolen from their mothers and sold at birth, are said to have found each other again years later thanks to a video posted on the TikTok platform.
“It was like looking in a mirror; exactly the same face, exactly the same voice. I am her and she is me,” Amy Khvitia told the BBC on Friday, recalling meeting her identical twin sister Ano Sartania after reuniting on TikTok in 2021.
For the young woman, the search for her twin sister began at the age of 12, when she saw Ano Sartania on the stage of the show “Georgia's Got Talent”.
“Everyone called my mom and asked, 'Why is Amy dancing under a different name?' the young woman recalled, according to British media.

However, in November 2021, seven years later, a friend of Ano Sartania sent her a video of Amy Khvitia recorded from the platform TikTok, which highlighted the similarity of the two young women.
She then allegedly tried to track down her twin on the platform before sharing the video on a WhatsApp group at her university, where a friend of Amy's eventually put them in touch.

After meeting in person, the twins took turns confronting their respective families, who eventually admitted that they had been adopted a few weeks apart in 2002 without knowing they had a twin sister.
Both families were told that an unwanted baby was in the local hospital but that doctors would have to pay for the adoption, unaware that this was illegal, according to British media.
