It all started with a strange coincidence, in the form of an unexpected text last summer. “Laurence Nerbonne came across my song Our Year, which she didn’t know, and arranged it differently,” says Corneille.
The 46-year-old singer planned to cover some of his lesser-known compositions, including this one, on an album. “I was about to go into labor. It was a sign!” Our year, which we find on the album Entre Nord et Sud (2013), became the first excerpt from the project, which could also count on other collaborations.
A new light
“I always imagine parallel worlds in which people and things have more light. I apply the same imagination to my songs. “In a parallel world, some of my songs might be the most popular in my repertoire,” emphasizes Corneille. I have brought these songs, these updated treasures, together into a single album. They haven't aged a bit and today sometimes have an even more relevant theme.
On The Echo of the Pearls, Corneille takes up the pieces Nostalgie, Bora Bora, Au bout de nos sorrows, Beaux, J'en sais en sais, among others.
“These are my favorite songs, those of my girlfriend who I write with, my band, my entourage and my fans from the beginning. “I chose my best lyrics without wanting to take anything away from my better-known songs,” says the artist, who had success with the hits “Because we come from far away” and “Mit Klasse”.
As Corneille began working on The Echo of the Pearls, he found a theme emerging naturally. “The common thread is to find beauty and hope in everything, or at worst in imagination.”
“The light will find us at the right time,” he adds. The same applies to these songs: They had to find their moment. I hope this is the right thing!” confides Corneille, laughing.
“The voiceit opens my heart”
In addition to this upcoming album, Corneille is back in the tenth season of La Voix alongside Roxane Bruneau, France D'Amour and Mario Pelchat. “It's crazy how attached we are to the candidates!” says Cornelius. “We invest so much in the support that we forget we’re making TV.”

“There are some very, very strong TV moments. I can't wait to see what impact it will have on the public. It's more than just television. It’s a human experience,” says Corneille about this tenth season, which was recorded entirely in the fall.
