“I'll pay you back soon”: A very polite man allegedly managed to rob a bank in Chicago

A very polite person managed to rob a Chicago bank on Monday by leaving a note promising the establishment to “pay him back soon.”

Mohamed Worku was acquitted of a similar crime three days before the incident.

Two years ago, he walked into a bank and left with $595 after also showing a note to the clerk who was there. “Give me the money please. Thank you,” he wrote.

He was found about half an hour later, $100 missing and the bill still in his possession.

In court, the suspect's lawyer argued that even if his client had committed a crime, the fact that he acted without intimidation or violence did not meet the legal definition of theft.

The jury upheld that interpretation, allowing the man to be released on Friday.

But on Monday afternoon, Mohamed Worku entered another bank and left the employee a new note. “Give me some money, please. I will refund you soon. “The bankers give it to me in advance,” it said.

The clerk gave him $2,000 before calling the police.

The suspect was arrested at a Target store while shopping for clothes. He was missing $200.

He is now accused of dishonestly taking money, which excludes the use of force or intimidation.
