On the event's Facebook page, those responsible recalled that “the festival experienced security problems, particularly during the 2023 edition”.
“Although we shared unforgettable moments together during our last editions, we have decided to take a break in 2024,” they explain.
Last May, police tried to have the Metro Metro festival's liquor license revoked at the last minute after learning of possible threats following attacks on then-organizer Olivier Primeau's businesses.
However, an administrative judge rejected the police request and, as a precautionary measure, requested that the father of one of the organizers be banned from the venue, where several international celebrities were scheduled to appear.
Organizers Metro Metro also announced Friday that they will soon unveil a series of shows to be performed in venues and amphitheaters throughout the year.
