A fourth problem in four days paralyzed the Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) between Panama and Île-des-Sœurs train stations on Saturday. The rising temperatures have actually caused ice to form on the track.
The disruption was announced on the REM-X account around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
“An object on the track causes a service interruption in the network between the Panama and Île-des-Sœurs stations. There is a bus connection between these two stations. “Normal operations will gradually resume at around 2:45 p.m.,” read the first update.

Ultimately, the REM restart time was pushed back further and further and operations could only be gradually resumed at around 4:45 p.m.
Restoring operations took longer than expected, particularly because a snow removal team had to be deployed to secure the structure of the Samuel De Champlain Bridge from which the ice fell, a report from REM said.
