The 54-year-old singer and actress has signed with toy maker Mattel to work on a new animated film based on toddlers' favorite TV series Bob the Builder. She posted the news on Instagram and simply captioned it: “Yes we can!!! » (Yes, we can, an allusion to candidate Barack Obama's campaign slogan and handyman gimmick: “Yes we can fix it”).
Anthony Ramos, who starred in the musical Where We Come From (2021), is set to play the title role. The actor revealed to Variety some details about the film adaptation of the British animated series, which for 260 episodes captivated a generation of children in various countries, including France.
“For years, the characters of Bob the Builder have inspired young people around the world,” he said. This film is about friends working together, sharing a beautiful home and how love can help you overcome all the obstacles that stand in your way. Can we fix it? Yes we can! »
In the film, Bob travels to Puerto Rico to work on a large construction project.
If Mattel has recently entered the world of film production, it's through the front door! The company's first film, Barbie, in 2023, was the biggest global success we know of, grossing $1.4 billion across all markets.
