A driver who caused a collision in the LaSalle neighborhood on Sunday night, injuring five people before fleeing, is being actively sought by Montreal police.
The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) was alerted to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Lapierre and Cordner streets around 9:40 p.m.
On scene, police located three adults and two children in an SUV who were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The other vehicle was found at the scene, but the driver fled on foot before police arrived, said SPVM spokeswoman Caroline Chèvrefils.
The search for the guilty driver by the police and the dog unit was in vain.
Initial information indicates the SUV was traveling west on Cordner Street before it was struck by the vehicle traveling north on Lapierre Street.
But the driver of the vehicle did not comply with his mandatory stop at the intersection, explained Officer Chèvrefils.
The scene of the accident was secured for investigators from the collision investigation department, who had to analyze it to shed light on the accident.
The police found witnesses who were still on the trail of the guilty driver, it said.
