Montreal police intervened at a high school in the Pointe-aux-Trembles district early Monday morning after threatening comments were made against the institution on social media.
The Montreal Police Service (SPVM) says it was notified of threatening comments on social media against the Pointe-aux-Trembles school on Sherbrooke Street around 7:30 a.m.
Police officers were deployed on site to carry out checks and the institution, in turn, informed students and parents of “a situation that requires the temporary closure of the school”.
“Following police advice, all students and staff should not come to school to give police time to properly assess the situation. Police officers are currently on scene conducting the investigation,” the school’s website reads.
The police, for their part, stated that they had not yet identified any threat on site. “There is no danger at the moment, but we are taking the incident very seriously,” said Agent Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesman for the SPVM.
An investigation was launched to find the person who allegedly made these threats.
