LONDON – Catherine, Princess of Wales, has been discharged from a central London hospital and returned to her Windsor home nearly two weeks after undergoing serious abdominal surgery, Kensington Palace said Monday.
Catherine spent 13 days in the London Clinic, the same private hospital where King Charles III was admitted. had surgery for an enlarged prostate. Charles spent three nights in the hospital and also left the hospital on Monday.
Kensington Palace said in the opinion on Monday that Catherine, 42, was “making good progress.” They previously said their procedure was “scheduled” and the problem was “non-cancerous.”
It is expected that the future queen will need a considerable amount of time to recover. She is not expected to resume her official duties until after Easter. Likewise, the palace said the king had clarified his calendar to allow for a “period of private recreation.”
Palace officials are typically tight-lipped about the health status of members of the royal family, and while few details were revealed, it was still a surprise when the palace issued successive health notices earlier this month. Charles, 75, is said to have gone public with his problems to encourage other men with symptoms to have their prostate checked.
It's been an eventful time for royal health news. Last week, Sarah Ferguson, Prince Andrew's ex-wife, said she had been diagnosed with malignant melanoma, a form of skin cancer.
