A man in his 30s who fell asleep at the wheel was arrested on drug charges in Quebec before authorities discovered weapons of all kinds in his vehicle.
It was a citizen who contacted the police when he noticed that the motorist was stopped on the side of Boulevard Pierre-Bertrand, near Boulevard Lebourgneuf, at around 11 p.m.
When they arrived on scene, Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) officers discovered the man was dozing behind the wheel and the vehicle's hazard lights were on.
“The police initially arrested him for drug impairment,” explains Sandra Dion, spokesperson for the SPVQ.
But when they searched the interior of the car, they were in for quite a surprise.
Specifically, they found a sawed-off and loaded 12-gauge rifle, 12-gauge ammunition, an electro-pulse pistol, an “air-soft” plastic pistol and a tactical vest.
The peace officers also seized a telescopic baton, brass knuckles, a tactical vest and white cocaine-like powder.
“MALSAIN Project investigators met the suspect this morning and he will appear [lundi] Afternoon at the Quebec courthouse,” says Ms. Dion.
