Universal Pictures has released the trailer for Despicable Me 4, the sixth film (with two Minions) in the most profitable animated franchise of all time. The preview shows that Gru's family has grown with the birth of his son with Lucy. However, his concern for everyone's safety also grew when his greatest enemy escaped from prison with plans for revenge.
Illumination Studio continues to direct production and has also confirmed the return of the entire original voice cast, which includes Steve Carell as Gru, Kristen Wiig as Lucy, Miranda Cosgrove as Little Margo, and director Pierre Coffin as the various Minions.
However, Coffin is not directing the new film. The role falls to his partner in the first two features, Chris Renaud, who returns for the fourth installment with codirector Patrick Delage, a newcomer to the role but lead animator on Gru's first features.
The script, in turn, was written by Mike White, who joins the franchise after the successful launch of the series “The White Lotus” on HBO Max. In addition to “Ducks!”, he also wrote the popular afternoon session “Escola de Rock”. , the studio's new animated film currently in theaters.
The new voice actors include Will Ferrell (“Barbie”) as villain Maxine le Mal and Sofia Vergara (“Griselda”) as his femme fatale girlfriend Valentina.
The premiere is scheduled for July 4th in Brazil, a day after the US launch.
