Britney Spears apologizes to Justin Timberlake over her autobiography

After making several revelations about the end of her relationship with Justin Timberlake in her autobiography, Britney Spears published this Monday (January 29) a publication in which she apologized for the comments in the book “The Woman in Me”. The singer claimed that Timberlake cheated on her with another celebrity. She also revealed that she had an abortion because her exboyfriend “didn’t want to be a father.”

The release of Britney's autobiography caused many of her fans to turn against Justin. But this Monday (January 29), she decided to seal the peace by releasing a video in which her exboyfriend appears alongside Jimmy Fallon on the show “Saturday Night Live”.

“I would like to apologize for some of the things I wrote in my book. If I have offended someone I truly care about, I am deeply sorry,” he wrote on Instagram. The Princess of Pop's page is closed and only people authorized by her can see her posts.

Britney also praised her ex's work. “I also wanted to say that I'm in love with Justin Timberlake's new song 'Selfish.' He’s so good and how come I laugh so hard every time I see Justin and Jimmy together?”

The singer released a song of the same name in 2011. Some of Britney's fans even lobbied to put “Selfish” above Timberlake's song of the same name. Justin and Britney were together between 1999 and 2003.

The couple was a media darling. The relationship ended after Britney's pregnancy. In her autobiography, published in October last year, the singer said that at the time she did not know whether abortion was the right decision. “If he had been left alone, he would never have done it. (…) And yet Justin was so sure that he didn't want to be a father,” says an excerpt from the book.

The allegations sparked negative reactions on social media. At that time, Timberlake disabled comments on his profile for a certain time. Although Justin didn't speak out following the release of Britney's book, he even apologized to the singer in a 2021 Instagram post.

“I understand that in these and many other moments I have failed and benefited from a system that tolerates misogyny and racism. “I would like to apologize specifically to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson individually because I care and respect these women and I know I have failed,” he wrote.

The singer did not defend Michael Jackson's sister after the barrage of criticism the singer received following her performance at the 2004 Super Bowl. At the show, Justin lowered Janet's bustier during the performance of “Rock Your Body,” which reads, “I bet I.” I'll have you naked at the end of this song. With the move, Timberlake exposed Jackson's chest to the audience and millions of viewers. Janet was boycotted at events and presentations.
