Former NBA all-star Rajon Rondo arrested in Indiana on gun and drug charges – CBS Sports

Former NBA All-Star Rajon Rondo was arrested in Indiana over the weekend on gun and drug charges, according to court documents obtained by WDRB in Louisville, Kentucky. All of the charges Rondo faces are misdemeanors.

Rondo was pulled over for a traffic violation in Indiana on Sunday and an officer searched his car after he smelled marijuana. The search allegedly uncovered a gun, a quantity of marijuana for “personal use” and other drug paraphernalia, Indiana State Police spokesman Stephen Wheeles said.

After being arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail, Rondo immediately posted bail and was released. His attorney did not respond to WDRB for comment and it is unclear when he will be charged in the matter.

This isn't the first time Rondo has been in trouble with the law. In May 2022, the mother of his children was granted temporary custody and an emergency protective order after he allegedly pulled out a gun at her Louisville home. The victim said at the time that Rondo became “angry and violent” and threatened to kill her. “I am very afraid for my safety and that of my children,” she said. “Rajon has a history of erratic, erratic and explosive behavior.”

While the original EPO was repealed in June 2022, it issued a new EPO against Rondo in March 2023. This order was also lifted in August 2023. Rondo was not penalized by the league for this incident but has not played since it happened.

The No. 21 pick in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics, Rondo won two titles (2008 with the Celtics and 2020 with the Los Angeles Lakers), reached four All-Star Games, an All-NBA team and four All-Star Games. Defensive teams. During his 16 seasons in the league, he played for the Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, New Orleans Pelicans, Lakers, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers and Cavaliers.
