What you should know
San Diego State is 8-2 against Colorado State since December 2019 and they have a chance to build on that success on Tuesday. Both teams will face off in a Mountain West battle at 9:00 p.m. ET at Moby Arena. Colo. State was coming off a loss in its last game and will look to turn the tables on San Diego State, which is coming off a win.
Last Tuesday, the Aztecs didn't have too much trouble against the Cowboys at home, winning 81-65.
Lamont Butler was the standout offensive player of the game as he scored 23 points along with five rebounds and three steals. These 23 points set a new season record for him. The team also received support from Jaedon LeDee, who scored 17 points and seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Colo was struggling. State did well in its overtime contest against Wyoming on Saturday, but ended up with a less than desirable result. They narrowly trailed the Cowboys by a score of 79-76. Colo. State failed to live up to its potential and fell short of the advantage the oddsmakers expected early in the game.
Despite their defeat, Colo. State challenged several players and made notable plays. Patrick Cartier, who scored 19 points, was perhaps the best of them all. Another player who made a difference was Isaiah Stevens, who scored 17 points and nine assists.
With this win, the Aztecs increased their record to 16-4. It was their 16th home win in a row since last season. This is the Rams' second straight loss and their season record drops to 15-5.
Tuesday's game should be a tough battle: San Diego State has the edge this season, averaging 37.6 rebounds per game. At Colo. State, however, has a different story as they have only averaged 33 rebounds per game. Given San Diego State's significant advantage in this area, Colo. State will find a way to close that gap.
San Diego State hopes to beat the odds on Tuesday as pundits believe they are headed for defeat. They are a gamble against the spread as they have an ATS record of 7-11.
