The new Suits spin-off “Suits: LA” has received a pilot order from NBCUniversal.
The new drama from Suits creator Aaron Korsh tells the story of the lives and loves of workers in a Hollywood law firm – following the renewed success of the original series starring Meghan Markle, which ran from 2011 to 2019.
“Suits: LA” follows Ted Black, a former New York federal prosecutor who reinvents himself as a representative of the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. According to Variety, production is set to begin in Vancouver in late March.
A summary states: “His company is in crisis, and to survive he must assume a role he has held with disdain his entire career.”
“Ted is surrounded by a stellar cast of characters who test their loyalty to Ted and each other while they can't help but mix their personal and professional lives.

“All of this is happening as the events of years ago that led to Ted leaving behind everything and everyone he loved slowly unravel.”
No main cast member has been announced for the new series. Korsh serves as writer and executive producer alongside David Bartis and Dog Liman for Hypnotic and Gene Klein.
Victoria Mahoney will direct the pilot.
Korsh has created a character, Erica, who seems tailor-made for Meghan.
Erica is an African-American, career-oriented California girl in her thirties who is “smarter than everyone” and has an eventful personal life.
Some believe Korsh, who attended Meghan's wedding to Prince Harry in 2018, may be trolling his former friend and linked to the character. Others believe this is an attempt to lure Meghan back into acting, which would amount to a global coup.

He said in 2020: “After our children were born, there were some text messages and gifts sent, but I think I'm a little scared.”
“I think it's pure fear.” I guess I'm scared of the idea of breaking through all the existing walls to have this conversation. Honestly, I think I'm intimidated. I have no doubt that I could pick up the phone and call her at any time, but I don't know what I would say.'
When addressing Markle's absence from the Golden Globes reunion, her former friend Gina Torres revealed that they don't even have her former co-star's phone number now.
An interviewer asked, “Who texted Meghan and said, 'You have to come to the Golden Globes, Meghan Markle?'”
Torres replied, “We don't have her number.” We just don't do that. She will see it. She will watch. She'll be glad we're here.'
The Duchess' final episode as Zane, a role she had played since 2010, aired in April 2018, a month before her wedding at Windsor Castle.
