More than 200 films and an anniversary screening of “In a Galaxy Near You” at Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma

While a third film In a galaxy near you is currently in preparation, fans of the cult series by Claude Legault and Pierre-Yves Bernard are warmly invited to celebrate the 20the anniversary of the release of the first feature film in the saga at a special event as part of the 42nde Edition of Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma (RVQC).

This anniversary screening of the hit 2004 film is part of the slate of Blue Carpet evenings announced Thursday during the unveiling of the 42nd RVQC program. The event will take place on February 23rd at the Cinéma Impérial in the presence of “several surprise guests”. We bet some of the Romano Fafard crew will be there…

More than 200 films – including 52 premieres – will be presented during this 42nd edition of the RVQC, which runs from February 21 to March 2 in several Montreal cinemas.

It is the film Lucy Grizzli Sophie, an adaptation of the play La Meute, which will open the ball on February 21st. The documentary “Au boute du rien pantoute” about the life of actor Marcel Sabourin will conclude the event on March 2nd.

Other not-to-be-missed events include the premiere of the highly anticipated documentary Malartic and a premiere screening of the first two episodes of the third season of the series C'est comme ça que je t'aime on February 29th at the Imperial Cinema.

An evening tribute to the late Michel Côté will be presented on February 27th. Several special guests, including Maxime Le Flaguais, Louis-José Houde, Roger Léger, Julianne Côté and Émile Schneider, will take part in this event in honor of this “giant of our cinema” who died last May as a result of an illness of the bone marrow.

As usual, the RVQC offers film fans the opportunity to see or re-watch on the big screen the works that marked the last year of Quebec cinema. From “Testament” to “Le temps d'un été” to “Simple comme Sylvain”, “Solo” and “Humanist vampire seeks consensual suicide”, most of Quebec's most popular films of 2023 will be shown during the festival shown on a large screen.

Festival-goers will also be treated to three masterclasses offered by filmmaker Rafaël Ouellet (Arsenault et Fils), director Léa Pool (La passion d'Augustine) and artistic director Patrice Vermette, who won an Oscar two years ago for his work in Dune by Denis Villeneuve.

The 42nd RVQC will take place from February 21st to March 2nd. More details about the program: rendez-vous.quebeccinema.ca
