Dancing On Ice fans disappointed as Amber Davies 'wrongly' tops leaderboard without solo skating: 'She hasn't skated alone once!'

Dancing On Ice fans were left disappointed after Amber Davies dominated the leaderboard with a top score of 34.

The 27-year-old Love Island favorite took to the ice rink with a cha-cha routine alongside her professional partner Simon Proulx-Sénécal on Sunday's episode.

Amber was the fourth contestant to perform, where she was thrown high and expertly completed a series of complicated lifts – but fans were less than impressed with the result.

Presenter Holly Willoughby exclaimed: “You did it again, that was brave. You’re always so brave, what you do out there is incredible.”

Amber, who looked sensational in a skimpy and sparkly flamenco dress, giggled: “I'm a bit of a daredevil.”

Viewers of the hit ITV skate show were left fuming, with many claiming Amber's routine was “good but not that good” – and were quick to point out she hadn't been doing any solo skating.

Others expressed their disappointment at the judges' decision, noting that contestants such as Ryan Thomas and Ricky Norwood required a lot more solo skating practice – unlike the Love Island star.

On Taking to X – formerly known as Twitter – viewers weren't afraid to share their opinions.

“HOW can you rate Ryan lower than Amber?!” I skated alone the whole time, very well too. Amber never once let go of her partner's hand. “Judging sucks this year #DancingOnIce,” one said.

A second echoed the sentiment, adding: “It's crazy how Amber is at the top of the scoreboard with a 34.0.” She hasn't skated alone once and the others have been much better than her routine. She's from an Itv show. Why am I not surprised? #DancingOnIce.'

“I really love Amber and that was a great achievement, but I find it hard to understand how you can rate her so highly when she hasn't let go of Simon's hand the whole time?” “Surely she needs to skate on her own for a bit # DancingOnIce,” another person wrote.

A fourth user mocked, saying: “How to get the highest score on #DancingOnIce 1. Don't let go of your partner 2. Trip multiple times.” Worked well for Amber.”

“How can they score Ryan the same way they score Amber?!!? He was skating and lifting alone, she was being pushed around! #DancingOnIce Not right,” another viewer commented angrily.

One fan cheered Ricky on, saying: “#DancingOnIce said Ricky deserved a higher score, he did a lot of running on his own – I appreciate lifts need some work but Amber barely ran in comparison.”

“#Dancingonice I just made an appointment with the optician… I think I missed something.” Amber was good… but not that good. There was no solo skating and she got the highest score… how??? why???,” another commented.

“#DancingOnIce Amber gets the highest score for holding her partner throughout the entire routine.” Pss take it. #fixingonice,” said another disappointed viewer.

Meanwhile, some other fans come to Amber's defense and praise her “crazy” performance.

“YASSSSSS at the top of the scoreboard you were absolutely crazy #dancingonice,” one person gushed.

Another user commented: “I give Amber and Simon 7.0.” The lines you create are absolutely gorgeous; You're so nimble, so musical. My score could have been higher, but honestly I wanted more solo skating. But definitely brilliant! #DancingOnIce #DOI.'

“#dancingonice Amber excellent and worthy score and music suited the dance,” a third person said enthusiastically.

Claire Sweeney was the latest star to leave the series after ending up in the dreaded skate-off with Lou Sanders in the final episode.

The 52-year-old soap star, despite dislocating a rib during rehearsals, took to the rink for a burlesque performance where she skated and sang live.

After the skate-off, judges Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabus, Jayne Torville and Christopher Dean announced that they wanted to save the “strongest skater.”

The Corrie actress was criticized earlier in the show for spending too much time off the ice while lifting.

The packed show also featured a shocking twist when presenter Holly announced there would be a shocking double eviction next week.

Claire gushed about her “incredible” time in the competition and how proud she was to have eight-year-old son Jaxon in the audience.

Adele Roberts opened the show, which saw contestants perform dances from around the world, as she took to the rink with her pro partner Mark Hanretty for a Charleston-inspired performance.

The former DJ, who wore a 1920s-inspired ensemble, scored an impressive 30 out of a possible 40 points as all four judges awarded her 7.5 points.

Full of compliments, Oti gushed: “I loved it, what a brilliant way to open the show.”

While Christopher added: “I'm impressed with the step count and pace, no one else can do that!”

Next Made In Chelsea's Miles Nazaire was thrown out of his comfort zone as he and Vanessa Bauer performed a ballet on the ice, earning him 30.5 points for his efforts.

Miles achieved the highest score of the series so far, with judge Ashley commenting on his amazing skills despite having no professional dance training.

Meanwhile, Chris said: “Who would have thought there was one [Rudolf] Nureyev is lurking in there?'.

As Miles looked on in confusion, the judge informed him, “He was a very famous ballet dancer.”

Lou was next in line after viewers again claimed last week that she had been deliberately underrated by the judges and labeled the series a fix.

The comedian looked stunning as she hit the rink in a feathered dress with pro partner Brendyn Hatfield.

Oti scored a respectable 6.5, followed by Ashley, Christopher and Jayne, who all gave the funny woman a 6, giving her a 24.5 – her highest score in the competition so far.

Addressing the scoring drama, Ashley said: “Credit to you, you really deserved your high score, it was really nice to see.”

While Oti added: “Keep up the good work because you are now officially on the right track!”.

Ricky Norwood dismissed reports that he had threatened to quit after a heated argument with professional partner Annette Dytrt while performing a traditional German Schuhplattler wearing lederhosen.

Although the routine, featuring a yodeling version of YMCA, was a huge hit with the studio audience, it received a disappointing 23.5 out of 40 rating.

As the crowd booed, Holly reminded the former EastEnders actor that it was his highest score in the competition to date.

Jayne told the actor: “I didn't think it would work but it did and it made me smile, you've improved so much from last week.”
