The National Hockey League's (NHL) outdoor highlight, the Winter Classic, will be played at Wrigley Field in 2025 and pits the Chicago Blackhawks against the St. Louis Blues.
As the Chicago Sun-Times reported Tuesday, the Bettman circuit will host its prestigious event at the home of the Chicago Cubs for a second time; The legendary stadium was the scene of a 6-4 defeat by the Hawks against the Detroit Red Wings in front of more than 40,000 spectators on the first game day of 2009. The NHL has not yet confirmed the information.

In addition to the Winter Classic, the Windy City was treated to a Stadium Series game as the local team defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-1 at Soldier Field in front of nearly 63,000 spectators.
Certainly, young Connor Bedard's possible participation – assuming he can avoid injury – should generate significant interest from fans locally and elsewhere, as well as from American hockey fans who will likely increase their ratings. This year, the Winter Classic between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Seattle Kraken on January 1st will not have been the most-watched regular season game on American television. According to the local newspaper, this is a first since the outdoor game was first presented in 2008.
