We'd heard Patrick Roy speak the Molière language to his French-speaking players since he arrived at the Islanders, but the team's new head coach pushed the concept a little further behind the bench on Monday.
Apparently in a good mood after watching the Maple Leafs score, Roy recalled his heritage with a church saying that was captured by the cameras on site (see in the video above).
And a quick analysis lets us say that it was not “Tabarnane”!
But after John Tavares scored the equalizer to make it 2-2 in the third period, Pierre Engvall gave the Islanders the win with 2:02 minutes left in the game.
However, history does not say whether Roy uttered another church word after returning to the locker room to celebrate his second win with the Islanders.
