Alexis Lafrenière scored in overtime to give the New York Rangers a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche at Madison Square Garden on Monday night.
The Quebecer hit the net while in possession of the puck and had patience to deceive the alertness of goalkeeper Alexandar Georgiev.
It was the 13th win for the first-ever player selected in the 2020 draft and his fourth game-winning goal of the season.

Artemi Panarin equalized in the third period. The Rangers star skillfully carried the puck into the offensive zone and beat Georgiev with a wrist shot. It was his 31st goal of the current season.
On the Avs side, Nathan MacKinnon was the only one to put the puck behind goaltender Jonathan Quick.
The 28-year-old striker has picked up at least one point in his last 14 games. During that series, he collected 13 goals and 16 assists for 29 points.
MacKinnon now has 85 points in 50 games this season. He is tied with Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov for the top scorers' list in the National League.
The loss ended the Avalanche's three-game winning streak. The Colorado club will look to return to victory on Wednesday against the New Jersey Devils. On the same day, the Rangers receive a visit from the Tampa Bay Lightning.
