Winnipeg Jets defenseman Brenden Dillon will essentially serve a suspension for an unjustified hit on Pittsburgh Penguins forward Noel Acciari on Tuesday.
The guilty hockey player, who was ejected from the game for his actions early in the second period of a 3-0 loss, will make a phone call to the National League's Player Safety Department. As a result, he will receive a penalty of five games or less.

Dillon hit his victim in the head as he attempted an offensive breakthrough. Acciari required help from trainers to retreat to the locker room and did not return to the game. At the end of the confrontation, Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan made it clear that the veteran's health would be reevaluated.
In his return to the Jets, he has totaled 75 penalty minutes in 48 games this season. His team will visit the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday.
