Taylor Swift suffered a rare onstage mishap when she nearly fell off her chair during a heated performance on her The Eras Tour in Tokyo on Wednesday.
The 34-year-old star, who will return to the US for the Super Bowl this weekend to support Travis Kelce, performed a fast-paced rendition of hit “Vigilante S**t” – which sees her squatting with her legs spread, before slowly sinking onto a floor chair,
However, the star, dressed in a midnight blue jersey, misjudged the position of the chair and stumbled before regaining his composure.
Fans quickly took to social media to praise the star for avoiding disaster on stage, writing: “She did her squats because I would have fallen straight on my butt.”
Another wrote: “Her thighs are probably so strong that she was able to sit like that for the whole song without the chair.”

Taylor resumed the Eras Tour as she took the stage for her first of four sold-out shows at the Tokyo Dome on Wednesday night.
As she performed some of her biggest hits in front of 55,000 fans, the pop star appeared in good spirits with a glittering guitar in hand and Swifties singing along to every song.
While she only arrived in Asia earlier this week after attending the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, where she made history by winning Album of the Year for the fourth time, the Cardigan hitmaker is reportedly ready to take one to take a wild trip to Las Vegas to watch her boyfriend Travis Kelce take on the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl on Sunday.
For her surprise songs, which are two different tracks that she performs, one on the piano and the other on the guitar, the 14-time Grammy winner wowed the audience with “Holy Ground” and “Dear Reader.”
While performing her Evermore set, she revealed that she had been working on her upcoming new album The Tortured Poets Department “soon after leaving Midnights.”
“I've been working on it for about two years, I worked on it throughout the US tour. “And when I thought it was perfect, when it was good enough for you, I finished it,” the performer teased. “I’m so happy that you’ll get to hear it soon and that we can experience it together.”
She continued: “I'm over the moon that you guys care about my music. “It still blows my mind.”
Additionally, the “Cats” actress revealed that she almost announced her upcoming record in Tokyo.

As she spoke to the audience, she recalled her “plan” that if she were “lucky enough” to “win one thing” at this year's Grammys, she would announce “Tortured Poets.”
“And in the end it happened,” she gushed. “My backup plan was to do it in Tokyo tonight.”
Last week, the Japanese Embassy confirmed that Swift could see her “man with the Chiefs” play in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday, February 11 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
In a statement released today, the Japanese Embassy in Washington DC said that if Swift gets on a plane immediately after the concert, she will get to Las Vegas “conveniently.”

The statement, which included three of Swift's album names, went on to say she could “easily wow Japanese audiences and make it to Las Vegas.”
The statement said: “The Japanese Embassy in the United States is aware of recent media reports regarding the steps Taylor Swift must take to travel from Tokyo to Las Vegas in time for the Kansas game after her concert on February 10th City Chiefs.” in Super Bowl LVIII.
“Despite the 12-hour flight and 17-hour time difference, the embassy can confidently say with Speak Now that if she leaves Tokyo the evening after her concert, she should arrive in Las Vegas comfortably before the start of the Super Bowl.”
“We know that many people in Japan are excited to see Taylor Swift's Eras Tours, and we wanted to confirm that everyone involved can be fearless knowing that this talented artist will delight Japanese audiences and still bring them to Las Vegas can create to support the Chiefs if they do.” “Take the field for the Super Bowl in red.”
This is her first concert since announcing a surprise new album during her acceptance speech at the Grammys on Sunday at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

While announcing the exciting news, she told fans that she had a “surprise for them.”
“I want to thank the fans by telling you a secret that I've been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand new album is coming out on April 19th,” she teased.
Swift continued, “It's called The Tortured Poet's Department. 'I'm going to go backstage right now and post the cover.'
Just minutes later, Taylor, who won her fourth album of the year at the show, stayed true to her word and shared the chic cover of her upcoming 11th studio album, which showed her lying on a bed in black underwear and a sheer black top, causing the temporary Her Instagram page went down.
Swift began her speech by saying it was her 13th award — a number she considers lucky.
