Mariah Carey returns to Las Vegas

Mariah Carey is ready to return to Las Vegas with a new series of shows.

The singer announced on Tuesday, February 6, that she will be returning to Sin City in the spring with an eight-show series called “The Celebration of Mimi.” “Vegas, I’m coming back to town with a new show! Celebrating Mimi Live in Las Vegas April 12-27 at Dolby Live at Park MGM!” the 54-year-old star wrote on Instagram.

The residency celebrates the 19th anniversary of the singer's 10th studio album, The Emancipation of Mimi, which was considered her “comeback album” by critics and became her best-selling album in the United States in a decade. According to Billboard, a new release reveals that “the Las Vegas shows will feature fan-favorite songs from this album, as well as other hits from his illustrious and unparalleled career.”

“The Emancipation of Mimi” was released in April 2005 and spawned hits like “We Belong Together.” Six million copies were sold in the USA and 10 million worldwide. It also earned the R&B icon ten Grammy nominations.

“I think it's a very important time in my career, a very important time for me as an artist,” the star said of “The Emancipation of Mimi.”

“I felt a sense of triumph that it was so successful. I know that thanks to this album a lot of people discovered me too. That's why I would love for people to remember the music from this album. I hope it brings something good to people. That's the goal,” she told Billboard in 2020.

With this new residency, the album should also make a comeback in the rankings!

The pop icon's upcoming shows will be her first time in Las Vegas in four years, following The Butterfly Returns, which ran from 2018 to 2020. In 2015, she thrilled the crowds at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

Mariah Carey recently toured the United States with her holiday show “Merry Christmas One and All!”, which ran from November 15 to December 17, 2023. The singer's next Las Vegas performance will be April 12 at Dolby Live from Park MGM. 13, 17, 19, 20, 24, 26 and 27. Advance ticket sales begin on Saturday, February 10th.

Mariah Carey and Live Nation Las Vegas are donating $1 from every ticket purchased to the Fresh Air Fund's Camp Mariah, one of the star's charitable initiatives.
