LCF: Mathieu Betts in the Alouettes' sights?

Defensive lineman Mathieu Betts is currently exploring three contract offers, including one from the Montreal Alouettes.

The TSN network said this on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old Quebecer is currently using his autonomy after playing a fantastic 2023 season in the British Columbia Lions jersey.

In addition to the Als, the Laval University Rouge et Or product would have received offers from the Lions and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Betts had 44 tackles in 18 games last year. He recorded 18 sacks, a record in Canadian Football League history for a Maple Leaf player. The Montreal native was also named the 2023 Ambrosie Circuit Defensive Player of the Year.

Betts was selected with the third overall pick in the 2019 auction and began his career with the Edmonton Eskimos/Elks (2019-2021). He has been a member of the Lions for the past two seasons.

The only player in the history of the Canadian university circuit to win the JP Metras Trophy (best lineman) three times had a tryout with the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL last January.
