Murder on the dance floor… Down Under! Sophie Ellis-Bextor will perform in Bondi for the 2024 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras amid a stunning Saltburn comeback

British pop sensation Sophie Ellis-Bextor is officially heading Down Under to perform at one of Sydney's biggest beach parties.

The 44-year-old hitmaker, best known for her noughties hit 'Murder On The Dancefloor', has been confirmed to headline the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Bondi Beach Party 2024 on Saturday, February 24.

Sophie will be joined by an incredible line-up of artists including American pop acts Slayyter and Corey, as well as British DJs Jay Jay Revlon and Lagoon Femshaymer.

Australian artists Tyoow, Mama de Leche and Beth Yen (ACT) will also take to the stage at the 15,000 guest event.

Her appearance at the Bondi Beach Party will be the first of two trips to Australia this year, as Sophie also supports Take That on their national tour in October and November.

She is accompanied by her opening act colleague Ricki-Lee Coulter.

The film's popularity has catapulted “Murder On The Dancefloor” to the top of the charts worldwide.

A music industry source told the Mail On Sunday: “Sophie has become a global star again.” “Universal, her old record label, have snapped her up and she will be releasing new music later in the year.”

“She'll probably be a bigger star than she was back then. “It came out of nowhere for Sophie and she's thrilled and really excited.”
