Discover the secret behind Viraduro's giant snake
The huge snake that appeared between the ballet of the Unidos do Viradouro Front Committee and slithered across the floor of Sapucaí was one of the great highlights of this carnival.
Lying in line on a skateboard, the dancer and choreographer Wesley Torquato controlled her movements with a remote control. The school won the 3rd title in history with a plot about a mythical snake.
Among so many recipes in Sapucaí's 40 years, one is indispensable: creativity. To surprise the audience with the presentation of the story on the Avenida and impress the judges, dancers and choreographers even rehearsed on Christmas Day.
“We agreed beforehand that we had Christmas at home. We left our guests at home and said, 'Guys, now we have to go to the Sambadrome because we have a mission,'” said choreographer Priscila Mota.

Over the years, the front commissions have developed into real spectacles. They received help from technology, but the human factor is still the most important.
The giant snake came to life in Wesley's hands. It took months of preparation until last Monday (11).
The snake is the protagonist of the plot “Arroboboi, Dangbe“, which paid homage to the sacred animal of the people of Benin, depicted the voodoo belief and praised the strength of black women.
The Alafiá Front Committee showed the snake crawling between the components like in a ballet. The idea comes from the choreographer duo Priscila Mota and Rodrigo Negri.
