Shakira releases first album in 7 years

Thanks to Shakira, hot girl summer is coming early this year.

On Thursday, Shakira, 47, announced the March 22 release of her 12th studio album, “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” (Women Don't Cry Anymore). This will be their first album release in seven years.

According to a press release, the album is a testament to “Shakira.” Resilience and strength and the power of music to transform even the most difficult experiences into precious moments.”

“Creating this work was an alchemical process. As I wrote each song, I rebuilt myself. As I sang them, my tears turned into diamonds and my vulnerability into strength,” the “Hips Don't Lie” singer said in an interview statement.

The 16-track album includes eight never-before-heard songs, one remix and seven previously released singles such as “Music Sessions Vol. 53” with Bizarrap, “TQG” with Karol G, “Te Felicito” with Rauw Alejandro and “Copa Vacía” with Manuel Turizo.

In September, Shakira was honored with the coveted Video Vanguard Award, which honors an artist's life's work, at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The “Waka Waka” singer made a hot comeback to music following her split from long-time partner Gerard Piqué in June 2022.

Shakira referenced the changes in her life when she accepted Billboard's Woman of the Year award at the inaugural Latin Women in Music gala in May. “This has been a year of profound change in my life, in which I have felt more than ever – and in a very personal way – what it means to be a woman,” she said as she accepted the award.

“It was a year that made me realize that we women are stronger than we think, braver than we believed, more independent than we were taught,” she added. “For what woman has not at some point in her life forgotten herself because she seeks the attention and love of another? This has happened to me more than once.”

Shakira, who first confirmed her relationship with Piqué in March 2011, then spoke about realizing her worth as a woman.

“But there comes a time in every woman's life when she no longer needs someone else to love and accept herself for who she is,” she said. “A time when the search for someone else is replaced by the search for yourself.”

Shakira added: “A time when the desire for perfection is replaced by the desire for authenticity, and when finding someone faithful is less important than staying true to yourself.”
