Gal Costa's son fights in court to stop his inheritance from going to his widow · TV

Gabriel Costa, son of Gal Costa (19452022), went to court to claim the inheritance left by the singer. He contradicts Wilma Petrillo, the interpreter's widow, who demands recognition of a stable relationship in order to claim her share of the fortune. According to Gabriel, Wilma was only Gal's manager and his godmother and therefore had no rights.

According to Folha de S. Paulo, the young man recently turned 18 and decided to hire two lawyers to represent him. Since Silver Rain's voice died, Gabriel's temporary care has fallen to Wilma.

In January 2023, Wilma asked the court to recognize her as Gal's wife. The businesswoman claims they were in a relationship for 24 years. In the lawsuit, she requested an inventory of assets and also requested permanent custody of Gabriel. The process was stalled because Gal's son was about to turn 18.

The São Paulo court notified Gabriel Costa in July 2023, at the age of 17, to provide clarifications about the stable relationship between Wilma and Gal. At that time, the heir was represented by the São Paulo public prosecutor's office because he was a minor and spoke out against confirming the relationship.

According to the defense, Wilma had not provided “sufficient documentation to demonstrate the alleged stable connection.” The widow's lawyers filed a new lawsuit, this time declaring that she and Gabriel had lived in perfect harmony, like mother and son, since he was small.

In view of the previous requests, the court demanded that Gabriel, from the age of 18, make a new declaration in “his own handwritten agreement and with a notarized signature” about the supposedly stable connection between his mother and his “godmother”.

Gal Costa died in November 2022 at the age of 77. Since her death, friends, former employees and fans have spoken out against Wilma's actions. The widow buried Gal in a different grave than the one the singer requested during her lifetime and was also the subject of allegations of moral harassment and fraud during her tenure as Gal's manager.
