On the night of the Parade of Champions of Carnival 2024, Silvio Santos decided to change the SBT schedule to show the 2001 parade of the Rio Tradição school, whose plot was a tribute to him.
With original commentary by Globo, with comments by Cleber Machado and Glória Maria, the parade evoked nostalgia on social media with the storyline “Today is Sunday, it is joy, let us smile and sing.”
In addition to Silvio on the last float, the parade also included Gugu Liberato, Carla Perez, Adriana Bombom, Jackeline Petkovic, Babi Xavier and Fabiana Andrade, all of whom sang the lyrics of the samba: “laiá laiá, Silvio Santos is coming”.
O Q5 noted that the recording of the parade was in the SBT archives to be shown in programming and reports. Silvio's order to broadcast the parade in full length came this Saturday (10) and caused an uproar behind the scenes at the channel.
Surprised, Globo is still wondering whether he should do something about it. SBT was contacted about the report but did not comment.
The audience was omitted from the replay
According to ratings, Silvio Santos' idea was not well received by viewers. The average viewership was 2.5 with a peak of 3.3 in the preview, down 26% from SBT's rating at the time.
